Our stay at YOTEL was incredible. We stayed at a few hotels during our stay in San Francisco and YOTEL was by far our favorite! The staff is very kind and helpful, especially Ariel. Highly recommend! Everything about the hotel is first class!

    A real gem!!!

The room description mentions the size but until you arrive you don’t realise just how small it is.

The Sky Room at Yotel SF omits one prominent feature from its photos and description: the toilet is fully exposed, directly next to the main door, no partition, no privacy. Management's response to this concern — repeated across reviews since at least 2023 — is that the layout is "a bit unconventional" and reflects a "modern, European-inspired design." They have been "taking comments seriously" for years. The toilet remains in the open and, I assure you as I write this from Marseille, definitely not "European-inspired." Unless they mean the dogs. . . The ice machine on my floor had no ice. When I mentioned this to the guest service agent — not to request delivery, simply to flag it — he became defensive, suggested I walk to another floor, and returned to his phone. The air conditioning cut out in the night, warming the room enough to wake me at 5am. The large water bottles ($6) are a nice touch, but refills require the same ice machine that had no ice. To be fair: the bedding is comfortable and the sheets were clean. If Yotel were positioning this as a stylish hostel alternative, the Sky Room might pass. It isn't priced that way. Before booking, read the management responses to critical reviews carefully. The language is consistent, the concerns are not new, and nothing has changed. That's not a quirk — it's a pattern.

I did not enjoy my stay at YOTEL at all… perhaps I misunderstood how ridiculously small the room is (small bed in a loft stacked on top of a small space with shower and toilet). It felt like I was in a space capsule and could barely move around. This is not a place for more than one person. The lack of human service in the “lobby” (really a cloister of computer screens for checkin) was an issue at check-in… the system did not properly send me my room number and I waited for 10 min to find a human to help, who was clearly unhappy to work there. The price was unreasonable given the quality of experience. Not recommended.

Super easy check in, very clean rooms. Loved ice machine and water available on each floor

Nice small room with a bed that pulls up as a couch to make more space. Good location.

Breakfast was poor, and only slowly replenished.

Fun & accessible to SF, I felt safe & fun interior …unfortunately the communal ice machine wasn’t working & the room didn’t come w a fridge.

There are a lot of hidden fees as well as unsafe conditions at this hotel. First, we were not aware that we would have to pay for parking which was about $35 for the night, and the closest parking garage was a six minute walk from the hotel. On the way to the parking garage, we saw several cop cars and someone being arrested. My family, which included an 8 year old, got to the hotel in the evening after eating at a restaurant, because our flight was delayed, and had to walk 6 minutes to the hotel on the inner city streets of San Fransisco with the drug dealers and sketchy people roaming around. We booked two rooms months in advance and once there the hotel attendant gave us rooms that were floors apart from each other. Other than my 8 year old my kids are teens, but they are still kids and I would have liked to be on the same floor as them. The hotel room itself was nice and pretty clean, although we did find some food left over from the previous person on the top shelf that had been missed by the cleaning staff. One thing that I thought was pretty neat was that the bed inclined in our room. Finally, there was a $17.66 facility fee that was charged to us after our stay, so all of those "amenities" like the "free" breakfast aren't really amenities at all, they are paid services that should be published in the overall price.

What does need to be stated is the safety factor - it is surrounded by homeless and drug addicts. We reserved a parking garage a few blocks away on Eddy and we literally walked through urine and active drug use happening on the sidewalks - syringes being held like cigarettes. They did not bother us though - we kept our eyes ahead and kept moving. We did take an uber later at night so we could get dropped off right at the hotel door. Heavy police presence on 6th street.

I really enjoyed the community lounge. To me that’s the heart of the hotel. Majority of my stay I was looking for the positive but that was rare. I thought every unit had a smart bed mines did not. Also it did not include a chair or a desk in my room. So it was no place to sit. Major inconvenience.
