Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites South Bend by IHG

Hotel smelled bad. Hallways smelled bad. Room smelled stale and bad. Loud banging noises at 5am woke me up.

We had drywall seams falling apart in our room. The tub drain was broke. You can see through the gap in the door even when it is closed. Walls are paper thin, you hear everything!!! The hot tub is filled in with cincrete and the pool room was nasty!!! Definitely cross off our list of places to stay!

Nothing fancy but clean rooms and friendly staff

TV had no remote. Staff could not find one that worked so we had to move rooms. Safe in second room would not open. Staff very friendly, and helpful. Room comfortable and clean. Would stay there again due to staff.

The office staff was superb! Very friendly and nice and accommodating ! The only difficulty was that the TV channel remote was difficult to navigate. Excellent stay though! the pool was nice for the grandchild! The breakfast was tasty.

Big disappointment was that there was no hot breakfast bc of the Memorial Day holiday 🙄. The front desk staff both at night and in the morning were just about the friendliest I’ve seen, though. Gave us the sofa bed sheets and extra towels we needed for our group of six. We had a spacious, but dated, room. Importantly, the beds were comfortable and the pillows and bedding were clean and new.

From the first night of our 3-day stay, there was water all over the floor of the bathroom. I complained each day but because the hotel was sold out (indeed the town was sold out for graduations) they could not move us to another room. They said they didn't have a maintenance person available and that room has continuing problems. The best they offered was to give us towels! So, we had the pleasure of walking around on wet towels and bath floor the entire stay. When I was finally able to speak to two different managers, no apologies or refund accommodations were offered. I was told to take it up with Expedia who I pre-paid through. Expedia got involved but the hotel was only willing to offer an insulting, di minimus refund that did nothing to offset the inconvenience.

The staff especially the May 16th evening shift and May18th 3am shift ladies were lovely, helpful and awesome. But clearly the system does not empower them to address technical issues which ruined our first night. Upon arrival May 16th evening the room phone was not working. I am handicapped and oirnroom was pretty far down the hall from the front desk so I had no choice but to call long distance using my overseas phone to front desk to ask for assistance etc. Secondly the TV remote was the wrong one for the TV which was on and in sleep mode but the flickering lights of the screen saver made it hard to sleep and it was only addressed the next day.

Extremely comfortable bed. Maybe the best nights sleep I've had in a hotel!

Breakfast was fresh. They were constantly restocking.

Friendly, helpful staff. Clean rooms—just the carpets are in need of replacing (staff said it’s happening soon).

People at the front desk were very helpful

Room was suspicious. A kitchen living area. Two bedroom areas, one with a door. Close to Notre Dame college. Quiet. But there was a order. The carpets are old and dirty. Walls are packed over. The couch had stains and tears. We were literally just sleeping there for 2 night. 1 after 15 hr drive. The 2nd after a very busy day.

I was impressed by the quality of the breakfast provided. The evening manager also was most accomodating. Nothing comes to mind.
