Beresford Arms Hotel

We love the hotel and the location of it was so close to everything walking distance perfect for the value and surrounding area

Hotel is absolutely beautiful, and staff is lovely and kind. Neighborhood has been hit hard with the same stuff you find everywhere in big cities these days- but if you're Uber'ing everywhere, or dont mind the unsightly sidewalk smells and sights as you walk to catch public transit, the location is fine. I will say- there's no AC. We were on the 8th floor and it was around 68 degrees the 4 days we were there. The supplied fans were just enough to keep us cool, but if it had been even 10 degrees cooler, I dont think we could've stayed there. All in all, the beauty of the building and kindness of the staff would bring me back again.

Convenience. Wine and cheese complimentary every evening. I don't drink but cheese and crackers was a nice surprise. I would stay here again. Site said breakfast but it is continental breakfast. No protein, no meat. Only had croissants, bananas, yogurt to eat. At least we had a kitchen to fix breakfast.

The lobby is beautiful, but the rooms can use some sprucing up. Our room had a strange smell when we arrived.

Loved the decor! I appreciate that there is such a place in San francisco that still retains some classic decor in the guest rooms as well as the lobby. Most vintage hotels have destroyed the guest room experience with horrible mid century modern decor that is everywhere today. Why pay high prices for landmark historic hotels when their rooms look the same as average motel chain rooms. The lobbies may be spectacular examples of the Gilded age, but I don’t sleep in their lobbies. I searched long and hard to find a historic hotel with rooms and hallways that also feel elegant and beautiful. The lobby had an unpleasant odor on entering to check in. Kind of musty. Lots of nasty soil must come in off the streets with the current homeless and drug situation in San Francisco. I could see that the staff worked hard to wash down the sidewalk s and windows.

Beautiful decor and complimentary snacks

The beds were very comfortable and the Junior Suite was very spacious. It was so quiet from hotel noises and street noises. I was surprised on the third day to find out there was a family of four in the room next door. I didn't hear any voices, doors slamming, or footsteps. The only noise I heard from outside was the emergency vehicles at night and Saturday night there was a concert three blocks away that ended at 10pm. It was convenient to walk downhill to the cable car turnaround and the Ferry Building. Plenty of diners nearby as well as a pharmacy. Yes, there were homeless, but I never felt unsafe.

We stayed one night and ran to another hotel. Terrible area. Old room. Hard bed. SO loud we couldn’t sleep from sirens. Lots of homeless in this area. The elevator broke in day 2 and we were in the 8th floor but they took us in the freight elevator. Couldn’t wait to check out and go to a nicer hotel. You get what you pay for!

Breakfast was adequate although the packaged cheese for the social hour left a little to be desired.

Shady location because very close to homeless people street.

Property is good and well maintained.
