Incredibly slow to get to and from our room. Elevators designed for condominium not hotel.

We did not enjoy the fact that they stocked the refrigerator and left snacks that were absolutely ridiculously expensive, $15-16 for gummy bears and candy bars, etc. Also the “amenities” are useless I asked about the steam room and was told it cost extra if I didn’t use the spa service, well those services started at $285. While we knew we were staying at a luxury hotel that didn’t mean we have lots of money to waste.

The Elevator Crisis The biggest issue is the completely dysfunctional elevator system. Waiting up to 20 minutes for a lift is common, causing massive lobby lines. It was so severe I walked down all 25 flights of stairs a couple of times. Signs claim management is "working on it," but repeat guests noted this is a chronic, unresolved problem. Do not book unless you verify it is fixed. Subpar Amenities & Service Aside from free morning coffee, the amenities feel 4-star. The pool and pool bar are underwhelming (mirroring their 3.8-star Google rating). The gym is incredibly cramped; if more than four people are inside, it becomes unusable, forcing me to abandon a workout. Service is definitely not 5-star. After a scorching walk, I asked the front desk for a complimentary bottle of water, only to be told they had "run out." A luxury hotel running out of water is unacceptable. Furthermore, the spacious suite looked dated and in need of renovation. Verdict Great views cannot mask poor service, tiny facilities, and a broken elevator system. It is a highly frustrating experience.

The Dominick has quickly become my favorite New York City hotel. It is very clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. I always get the best night sleep here. Highly recommend!

We loved our stay at the Dominick! The Diptyque toiletries were a nice touch!

The pool staff provided exceptional service and made the experience truly enjoyable. The front desk team was also top-notch—professional, friendly, and attentive throughout my stay. The only negative experience was with one female customer service staff member whose name I unfortunately do not remember. Her tone of voice came across as if she didn't want to be at work, and she spoke to guests in a way that felt dismissive and unpleasant. Aside from that one employee, my stay was outstanding. The Dominick deserves ***** (5 Stars Plus) for its luxury, cleanliness, amenities, and overall guest experience. I would gladly stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting New York City.

Everything. The staff were very helpful and considerate. Great location, views, facilities and rooms. The furniture could use an upgrade

20 minutes wait for the elevators, every time.

This is not the ubiquitous “luxury” pizazz term seen all over the place. It still remembers what Gen X knew as luxury aka quality not a scene.

The manager was not reachable, however Rachel at the front desk compensated us for the inconvenience by refunding us one night of our bill, it was a nice gesture, but the elevators waits truly affected the quality of the experience received at the Dominick’s.

We love this hotel. It is a little tired now but the value is in the space that you get in the rooms and the amazing views particularly on the higher floors. Free pastries and hot drinks in the Mezze cafe for breakfast were a nice touch. The staff were lovely as usual. So many light switches in the bedrooms, several of which do not appear to work.

Great location and great service. The elevators were awful. Often had to wait 10-15 minutes to catch one. The room had great views but seemed a little worn and the TV was placed in a location that obstructed a good portion of the view and could not be moved.

Several aspects of my stay at The Dominick fell far below expectations. First, the hotel’s maintenance is concerning. Multiple elevators were out of service or functioning poorly, creating excessive wait times. During busy periods, guests can easily spend 15–30 minutes simply waiting for an elevator. Second, I paid for a room advertised with a skyline view, only to look directly onto the rooftop of a neighboring building. This was not the experience that was advertised or expected. The biggest issue was the room itself. The air conditioning did not work despite repeated attempts by maintenance to fix it. During hot New York weather, spending the night in a warm room is unacceptable for a hotel charging luxury rates. The only solution offered was an apology, with no meaningful alternative provided. The pool, while impressive in promotional photos, is much smaller than it appears and becomes extremely crowded. It was difficult to enjoy due to the number of guests. Food and beverage service was also disappointing. The staff were friendly, but the quality of the food and drinks did not justify the very high prices. Overall, The Dominick seems to rely more on its reputation and marketing than on delivering a true luxury experience. Considering the price, I would strongly recommend looking at other luxury hotels in Manhattan.

The hotel space is nice. The wait for the elevator was outrageous. We waited easily for 15-20 minutes each time we needed to leave or return. The staff was unresponsive and unapologetic regarding this issue. I asked the concierge to help with reservations prior to arrival and she was unhelpful and neither communicated nor responded to my emails without several follow up emails asking for a status update. We waited for 30 minutes for the car and our luggage. The car returned to us dirty both inside and out. It was not a five star experience. We were quite disappointed.

The hotel was very nice. I wish it had more lobby and restaurant facilities but the people at the front desk were so lovely and the housekeeping lady was wonderful so I would definitely stay there again and it has a great location for shopping and restaurants restaurants

Good location. But Never again. PS: The elevators are extremely slow and not enough for the guests.

  • Engine customer Jun 2026

Pros: The view in the one bedroom Hudson suite was spectacular. The room was decently clean but tired. Good location. Cons: The pool temperature fluctuated between 71-104. We couldn’t count on using it. We were told we had an Amazon package delivered when we checked in. It took 3 phone calls and 24 hours to actually get it. As other reviews mention, the elevators are really an issue. Expect to wait at least 10 minutes every time. Large stains on the carpet. We were charged for something from the minibar when we checked out even though we didn’t take anything. I asked for the overall total when checking out, the person at the front desk couldn’t explain the receipt. They also never asked how the stay was. 2-3 star experience.
