Aloft by Marriott Manhattan Downtown - Financial District

It wasn’t very clean the room. The staff could be more nice but it is a hotel just to stay for one or two nights.

There was a spin board for Marriott points - they never offered it. Staff said they couldn’t link my reservation to my Marriott Bonvoy account because I booked it thru 3rd party (note true - I have done this at every other stay)

It was just ok

Overall I did like the hotel, my two big issues: one of two elevators broke and wasn't working for most of my stay and the one functioning elevator was overstressed and would take forever because it was the only one being used. Second issue: the staff would use that one functioning elevator to move cleaning carts and big trash bags that smelled very bad- you would think/hope that the staff would have their own elevator to avoid inconveniencing and stinking up the only working elevator.

I loved the location. No parking for guests and how compact the room was. It looked bigger in pictures.

The room was small but very clean, comfortable beds and quiet.

When we arrived at 4:00 PM, the AC was not cooling. I notified the front desk and was told an engineer would address it. After returning around 9:30 PM, the AC was still not working. At that point, we also discovered the sink and shower water were scalding hot and unusable. Staff sent an engineer, who was able to fix the AC, but the hot water issue was not resolved until the following day. We continued to experience intermittent overheating water throughout our three-night stay. The room also did not appear to have been thoroughly cleaned upon arrival, and all towel hooks had been removed from the bathroom, leaving exposed holes and mounting hardware behind. For the price paid, I expected the basic amenities and room condition to meet a higher standard. The bright spot was the staff. Everyone we interacted with was pleasant, professional, and genuinely tried to help. They did their best to make up for what appeared to be a poorly maintained facility.
