Great Breakfast!

Location was great. Close to the castle, which was nice. The breakfast was very good and well-appointed. The shower head had black mold on it. I didn’t even shower because I didn’t want to be close to the mold.

This is the only real hotel in the village. There are a lots of high-end B&B’s. But no true hotels that actually have a restaurant and a bar. That’s the lifesaver in this tiny village. The food is upscale, but not expensive . It has few rooms and supply and demand can force the prices up considerably. Some as far in advance as you can.

hiking the John O'Groats trail. Hotel is not right downtown so I shopped downtown then hiked out to the hotel (10 min). Great atmosphere I arrived and there were many people in the restaurant/bar having a great time. Staff friendly but a little disorganized, I ordered a beer and had to re-ask for it. Good nice clean room. I had a burger that could have been better and a shrimp cocktail with the smallest shrimp ever, thousand island dressing

We ate at the onsite restaurant and the food was fabulous. We couldn't have asked for better service. We requested a breakfast bag since we had to leave early. We were very pleased with the meal. Thank you very much.We also hiked the local trail to the falls which we really enjoyed. Since we were leaving early, we took showers after dinner. The water was COLD! I even let the water run for a while which didn't help.

The breakfast was first class, served at the table and exactly as specified. What really made this special was the presentation of the food on the plate. I also was delighted to see this when we had our evening meal. The staff were lovely and made every effort to make our stay enjoyable. The hotel was looking a bit tired and needed a bit of tlc. It did have an old fashioned charm however and although it was located on a fairly busy road it was in a good location for us. We visited Dunrobin castle which was 1 mile away and we enjoyed a walk around the back of the hotel.

Food was excellent.

Lovely place, staff was super friendly and helpful. The breakfast was outstanding and the scrambled egg best I've had in a long time. This was the most expensive place we stayed at on our 10 day trip yet it was the most basic room. Was expecting a lot more. Very thin mattress, curtain pole fell off the window, hair dryer didn't work. Basic drinks/snacks

Beautiful property with an interesting history. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was superb. Dinner in the evening was very good, freshest ingredients and lovely taste that showcased the areas food. We would definitely stay again. Thanks Nick for making our stay really special.

We both loved the location. The staff were all very friendly and shared local knowledge. Excellent breakfast and evening meals. What a menu. Our room was rather small, had to sit on the bed to relax and watch telly. At times the approach to our room was rather dark therefore difficult to see the keyhole.

Comfortable stay. Nice size room. Friendly staff. Bar was quite noisy, however it was a Friday night. Great location next to Big Burn Walk and a 3 minute drive to Dunrobin Castle.
